Babu G Rao
Babu G. Rao is the founder & director of the Kasyapa Institute. He is one of the founding members of the Advanced Yoga Therapy Centre at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience, Bangalore, India. He is a former faculty member in the Dept. of Yoga Therapy for SVYASA University and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mangalore, India, specializing in Yoga Therapy, neuro-cognative assessments and cognitive retraining. Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), Toronto, where he teaches a course entitled 'The Basics of Yoga Therapy" for doctors, medical students, yoga teachers and other health practitioners of North America. In addition, he mentors third and fourth year students of the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at CCNM as a preceptor in the field of Integrative Yoga Therapy.
He is a pioneer in conducting research in the field of applied Yoga Therapy, Mental Health and Neuropsychology in collaboration with the CAMH (centre for Addictions and Mental Health), University of Toronto. He holds satellite clinics in Scotland, UK, and Phoenix, USA, for Integrative Yoga Therapy. Babu G. Rao has treated thousands of patients in 13 countries applying Ayurveda, Siddha Medicine, and Yoga therapy. He is a supporting Green member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
Babu G. Rao is a Siddha Vaidya by family tradition, in the Kasyapa lineage, and is skilled in the recognition, traditional preparation, and application of numerous indigenous plants. He is well versed in many classical Indian subjects including Vedas, Vedangas, Upanishads, Puranas, and Darshanas. He began his formal study of Yoga, Ayurveda and Siddha Medicine in his family tradition at the age on 7 and continued his studies in the field of Yogic Science with Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati, Mangalore University, and SVYASA University, Indian. He obtained his Master's of Science (M.Sc) in Human Consciousness and Yogic Science, from Mangalore University and was honoured with the Gold Medal Award for the highest academic achievement in his field of study. His knowledge and practical application of Yoga was further refined in the classical style of 'cave yoga' with his Guru for over a decade, with long periods of retreat in Tapovan, Himalayas, India.
